ROUTINE HEALTH ASSESMENT AT KANJEDZA ORPHANAGE

The health assessment at Kanjedza orphanage in Chikwawa District was conducted on 22nd June 2021 with an aim of checking if there are other children that will need attention in terms of health well being, a Matron at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Blantyre together with Pastor Lucius Manja a field assistant for Jesus Mission, carried out the assessment at the orphanage.
The health personnel jointly with Pastor Manja were assessing sicknesses like High Blood Pressure, Polio, Malaria, skin rashes and other illnesses common in African children. When we know the statuses of the kids, we are always at a good position to identify which child needs instant help and of course what kind of help to give to the child. Understanding that there are other illnesses that are contagious, assessing these kids in this way also protects other children from contacting an illness from a friend.
Just to add on that, at Amazing Grace Orphanage in Mulanje District as the team was conducting the health assessment, two children were found with affected conditions and they were both rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Blantyre District for treatment.
In Africa, there are other infections that are common in children and it is a good thing to recognize the illness at an early stage hence we are conducting this health assessment to help the wellness of the children in orphanages.
